Grants of up to $2,500 to New Brunswick emerging artists or newly-arrived immigrants to acquire tools and equipment that will strengthen their long-term capacity to create work. Funds may be used for artistic equipment, technical equipment, software or necessary peripherals, or capital improvements to enhance an artist’s studio, rehearsal, production, or presentation space.

Applicants to this program must demonstrate:
- A record of artistic achievement and quality of work
- A clarity and rationale for proposed capital improvement or equipment acquisition, including identification of specific costs, tools, and materials required
- The impact of the proposed funding on the artist’s career and ability to create new work.

Applications are evaluated by juries of peers on the artistic merit of the proposed project or activity and on the achievements of the applicant to date.

Estimated Size of Grant:

The maximum grant amount is $2,500.

Term of Contract:

Projects should be carried out within 1 year (12 months) of the acquisition or completion of the improvements.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible artists are those who:
- Meet the professional artist criteria given in Appendix A of the Program Description document, below.
- Are Canadian citizens or permanent residents
- Have resided in New Brunswick for at least one year (12 months) prior to the application deadline
- Meet the definition of an Emerging Artist given in Appendix B of the Program Description document, below, or first became permanent residents of Canada less than 5 years ago.
- Do not have an overdue Final Report for any project funded by artsnb

Restrictions:
- An artist is not eligible who has previously received a Creation grant in Category A or Category B, or who is presently in consideration for such a grant.
- Students attending an educational institution on a fulltime basis are not eligible.
- An artist may receive only one grant from the Arts Infrastructure Grants for New and Emerging Artists program in their career

Ineligible expenses include:
- Consumable art supplies (e.g. canvasses, clay, paint, etc.) used in association with ongoing artistic practice or for creation of a specific project
- Routine rent or overhead expenses for artist’s housing, office, studio or retail space
- Artistic or administrative salaries
- Stipends or performance fees
- Real estate purchase, including mortgage payments
- Personal debt repayments.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be submitted online at by 11:59 PM on August 1st. If the deadline falls on a weekend or statutory holiday, it moves to the next business day.

Applicants will be notified by email of the results of the competition within 3 months following the deadline.

An artist may submit only one application in the Arts Infrastructure program per deadline.
