Grants of up to $25,000 to Calgary, Alberta nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, community and parent associations for projects that will enhance the local community's public parks and green areas. Applicants must contact the Foundation before applying. The Foundation's goal is to build community capacity and promote stewardship for children and community residents by supporting the development of new and valued community spaces. In addition to funding projects the Foundation prides itself in providing on-going project support throughout the duration of every project.

Types of eligible projects include traditional playgrounds, fitness parks, natural playgrounds, park revitalization, projects, outdoor classrooms, and community hubs. Eligible projects are not limited to those listed.

Applications are reviewed and evaluated by the Building Communities Advisory Committee using the following criteria:

-Social and community need as it relates to parks and community spaces
-Benefit and flexible use of project elements that will allow a variety of demographics to use and feel welcome in the space
-How the project will contribute to innovative and multi-use park amenities
-Essential need for financial assistance
-Project viability and readiness within required timelines. Grant must be used within 18 months of being awarded.
-The project must be within the Calgary municipal boundaries

The Grantee shall use the Building Communities Grant funds solely towards the described project within 18 months of approval.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any non-profit organization, educational institution, society or group can apply if they:
-Have opened Project Gift Administration project account with Parks Foundation Calgary *application required
-Are registered as a non-profit society and have a Certificate of Incorporation
-Has objectives relating to parks, community spaces or playgrounds
-Are located within the City of Calgary municipal boundaries

Grants are provided to schools, parent associations, community associations and other organizations that meet the eligibility requirements.

Pre-Application Information:

In order to qualify for the BC Grant Program the organization must first apply and set up a Project Gift Administration account. Grant applications are accepted three times per year. Application deadlines are:
- February 1st
- May 1st
- October 1st

Two copies of your application are required upon submission, a completed electronic application and one hard-copy application.

Applications are reviewed by the Building Communities Advisory Committee. The review process may take up to eight weeks.
