Grants of up to $25,000 to Ontario registered charities for projects that support and serve the residents of Oakville. Proposals are accepted in the focus areas of affordable housing, inclusion and belonging, heritage, youth, the equity gap, environment, resettlement, mental health, truth and reconciliation, and indigenous needs.

Criteria for successful applications:

  • Applications must meet one of the Foundation’s Vital Priorities:
    • Equity Gap
    • Housing
    • Inclusion / Belonging
    • Mental Health
  • Applications must align with the Vital Youth Report’s Adverse Childhood Experiences Watch list.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Proposals are accepted to a maximum of $25,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants:
- Must be a tax-exempt charitable organization as defined by, registered and in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency Charities Directorate
- Must have submitted a Grant Report Back to The Foundation (only applicable if your organization received a 2018 GIVE Oakville grant)
- Must adhere to the Ontario Human Rights Code

Applicants outside of Oakville may apply but must demonstrate that funding will only be used for activities that directly support and serve Oakville residents.

Projects with an Indigenous focus or impact or that contain Indigenous content will only be considered if developed with an Indigenous community, led by knowledge keepers or formally approved by the Indigenous community.

Ineligible funding:
- Annual fundraising campaigns
- Research papers or grant applications to other organizations
- Deficits or debt reductions
- Endowment fund building
- For sectarian, religious or political purposes (*faith-based organizations seeking to extend the use of their premises for community-based outreach projects may apply for funds on their behalf – funds will not be granted for programs or equipment for purposes deemed to be the responsibility of the congregation)

- Grant Distribution: January 2020

Organizations are permitted to submit only 1 application.

Collaborative grant applications of more than 1 charity are welcomed. Non-profit organizations may participate in a collaborative grant, but the lead organization submitting the application must be a CRA approved charity.
