Grants of up to $2,000 to British Columbia sports organizations to address gender equity in sports. Funding is intended to promote the professional development of female officials, coaches, and organizational staff. Grants may be used to support expenses related to education, training, and policy development.

Objectives:

  • Advancing Balanced Representation in Sport looks to strengthen balanced leadership opportunities for female coaches, officials or organizational staff throughout B.C. to enhance, strengthen, and support training, education, and policy development opportunities for women in sport.
  • Through the grant, viaSport is interested in supporting organizations that understand how actively developing diverse and inclusive leaders is fundamental to delivering positive sport experiences. The LeadForward Grant funds training, educational, or policy development activities that provide leadership opportunities for female coaches, officials, and/or organizational staff members.

This grant will fund up to $2,000.

Term of Contract:

Funded activities must be completed by March 31, 2022 in order to be eligible.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applications may be submitted by:
- Affiliated Local Sports Organizations.
- Recognized, Accredited, or Affiliated Disability Sport Organizations.
- (Accredited) Multi-Sport Organizations.
- Recognized, Accredited, or Affiliated Provincial Sport Organizations.

Organizations that consider engaging both men and women in activities, where appropriate, will also be considered.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline: Applications will be accepted until 11:59 PM PST on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

Eligible applications are evaluated by a review panel consisting of sport, recreation, physical activity, and community experts. The panel members are chosen to ensure balanced representation. The panel bases its recommendations on the eligibility and assessment criteria described in this document.
