Request a Grant Writer

Grants ranging from $200 to $1,000 to Ontario charity organizations, amateur athletic organizations, and municipalities in the Petrolia area for projects or programs that benefit the community. Funding is intended for events or time-limited projects that may result in one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Emphasize prevention rather than remediation
  • Encourage networking and collaboration among organizations
  • Demonstrate innovative or interdisciplinary approaches
  • Develop local leadership capacity
  • Reflect diversity and inclusivity
  • Provide leveraging possibilities

Estimated Size of Grant:

Micro Grants made through the Petrolia Community Fund range in value between $200 and $1,000. Requests for larger amounts may be considered by the Committee and the Fund Administrator but will require additional documentation and may be directed to the Sarnia Community Foundation’s Community Impact Grant Process.

Term of Contract:

Multiyear funding is not available.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The following types of organizations may apply:
- Charity, registered with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- Amateur Athletic Association, registered with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
- Municipality

Applicants that are NOT a registered charity may establish an intermediary relationship with a charity or amateur athletic association that is registered with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or with a municipality.

The following are not eligible for micro grants.
- Annual Fund drives
- Travel costs
- Building campaigns
- Debt reduction
- Projects, programs or expenses that will be completed or incurred before December 15th, 2019.
- Political activities
- Endowment funds
- Direct religious activities

Pre-Application Information:

Application must be submitted by November 29th, 2019 at 4:00 PM.

Grant applications may be delivered to the Town of Petrolia office but must be received by the 28th of November at 4:00 PM in that location to ensure delivery by the posted deadline to the Fund Administrator.

Emailed and Late submissions will not be considered.

Micro Grants will be awarded January 4, 2020 at an event running from 7-9 PM in Petrolia.
