Grants of up to $15,000 per year to British Columbia registered charities in eligible locations for operational support and program development. Funding is intended to support organizations working in the following fields of interest: arts and culture; children, youth and family; education; animal welfare; heritage and historical; environment; health and community services; and global initiatives (with local involvement and/or benefits). Organizations must be located within the School District #23 boundaries.

Operational funding includes: expenses associated with administering a business or organization on a day-to-day basis. Operating costs include both fixed (lease, rent on a building) and variable (materials directly related to program activities).

Key Goals of the Multi-Year Grant Program:

  • To support day to day operations (up to three consecutive years).
  • To support new and unique initiatives through the development phase (up to three consecutive years).
  • To support organizations with sound fiscal management and diversified sources of revenue.

Estimated Size of Grant:

$15,000/ per year for 2-3 years, i.e. up to $30,000 - $45,000.

Term of Contract:

Multi-year Grants are awarded for 2-3 years.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant must be a charity with a current Revenue Canada Charitable Registration number (BIN – Business Identification Number). Intermediary agencies are not accepted for the multi-year grants.

-Retroactive funding
-Debt retirement, reserves and mortgage pay-downs
-Activities of religious organizations that primarily serves their membership and / or for direct religious purposes
-School construction, including playground equipment
-Annual fund drives
-Third party funding
-Improvements or additions to land or property which might revert to private ownership
-Funds are not to be used for (post-secondary) institutional overhead/administration fees

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline: 3:30 pm on May 1st, or the closest working day after the 1st.
Review and Adjudication: May-June
Notification: End of June

The Central Okanagan Foundation will continue with the spring 2020 granting cycle. Given the ongoing spread of COVID-19, it is recommended that budgets reflects resources required to work remotely.

Multi–year funding is available twice in a ten year period.
