Grants of up to $30,000 to Canada Indigenous organizations to manage the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to support projects that address a pressing social inclusion or well-being need caused by the pandemic. Eligible organizations serve Indigenous peoples (First Nations, Métis, Inuit) and are preferably led by Indigenous peoples, as well. Projects should respond to urgent community needs while taking a long-term view on building community resilience.

Eligible expenditures will vary depending on the project. The list below are examples of possible expenditures:

  • Elder honorarium;
  • Wages and employment-related costs for existing or additional staff;
  • Fees for professional service; 
  • Disability supports for the staff of the recipient; 
  • Materials and supplies;
  • Printing and communication;
  • Travel costs including mileage;
  • Utilities;
  • Insurance;
  • Rental of premises;
  • Lease, purchase, and maintenance of equipment; 
  • Performance monitoring and reporting costs;
  • Data collection; and
  • Knowledge development activities.

Term of Contract:

All budget items must be project-related and must be incurred between June 1, 2020, and December 31, 2020.

Projects should be carried out in a short timeframe with a reasonable budget, before December 31, 2020

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any Indigenous-led organization or Indigenous-serving organization working to foster resilience in Inuit, Metis, and First Nations communities anywhere in Canada can apply for resiliency funds.

Examples of eligible organizations include:
- Community groups;
- Registered charities;
- Registered not-for-profit organizations;
- Public bodies performing a function of government in Canada

Those ineligible to apply include:
- individuals
- The Government of Canada (federal government);
- Provincial and territorial governments;
- The Crown; and
- The United Nations

The following expenditures are ineligible, and will not be supported by the IPRF:
- Purchase of real property (land or building)
- Expenses incurred prior to June 1, 2020
- Expenses incurred after December 31, 2020
- Any expenses that are covered by another funding source. Projects may receive funding from other sources, but those funds may not cover the same expenses as this resiliency support funding.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications are received and evaluated on a rolling basis. Applications must be submitted before July 31, 2020.

Decisions will be made bi-weekly. You can anticipate communication within 21 days of submitting your application. Applicants will receive a decision no later than Friday, August 28, 2020.

Applicants may only apply for one project at a time, but no more than 2 applications if they are distinctly separate initiatives. Should you apply for more than one, it must be done at 2 separate intake times. Your project cannot be fully completed at the time of application.
