Grant Description
Grants of up to $5,000 to British Columbia registered charities, qualified donees, municipalities, schools, and sports associations in eligible regions for projects that address community needs. Funding is intended to strengthen and revitalize communities, improve and preserve the natural environment, and promote innovation and creativity. Eligible proposals benefit Area H of the Regional District of Central Kootenay and/or the municipalities of New Denver, Silverton, or Slocan. Collaboration between organizations is encouraged.

Although individual projects will vary, each project should:

  • Translate needs and problems into solutions and opportunities
  • Innovate to produce synergistic outcomes; that is, create results that are greater than simply the sum of the parts involved
  • Enrich inter-connectedness
  • Weave together diverse interests and elements of life in the Slocan Valley; for instance, any of its social, cultural, environmental, and economic elements.

The Fund holds a broad definition of resiliency and hopes to support projects that develop resiliency in a variety of ways ‒ agricultural, artistic, environmental, economic; ideas that spring from a rich and creative community.
